Happy Divorce Chapter 7 (Part 1)
Happy Divorce Chapter 7 (Part 1) Original translation is from tenderflower's blog.
Manlu, I was tempted by you. I... am falling for you.
Then, there was warmth on her lips.
“So what? I can’t stand your temptation and your love.” That was how she responded to him at the time.
“It doesn’t matter. Sooner or later, you’ll be able to handle it.” He didn’t mind her indifference, smiling confidently yet tenderly.
That smile blinded her, and anger surged within her, so she merely gritted her teeth and endured it, ignoring him.
In the past, he had been so dismissive of her, but now he claimed he was tempted by her and had fallen in love with her?
Oh, did he believe that a word of affection could resolve everything? Could he erase the damage he had inflicted on her in the past?
Or did he think she would feel joy just because he said something that touched her heart? Because he kowtowed to thank her for her kindness when he expressed his love?
She needed no temptation or love!
She just wanted to end everything, to forget him entirely, and to erase her feelings of love and hatred toward him.
Su Manlu promised herself she would never again be the same Su Manlu who had loved him so deeply and pathetically, and she would never allow the past to repeat itself.
With icy eyes, facing Shui Lan’er, who stood at the door, she stated coldly, “Miss Shui, I still have things to attend to. If you have something to say, just say it.”
Not long after she and Bi Luo arrived at the shop they had purchased, Shui Lan’er came to find her.
Su Manlu was not at all surprised by Shui Lan’er’s arrival.
After leaving Bi Luo in the shop, she found a teahouse where she could sit down and wait to hear what Shui Lan’er wanted to say to her.
Shui Lan’er looked at Su Manlu with mixed emotions, clearly sensing that the person before her was different.
Back then, she had gone to Yan’s mansion to plead with Su Manlu for consent. Although it was portrayed as a request for permission, her demeanor was domineering. When faced with her plea then, Su Manlu appeared calm, but the sorrow in her eyes could not be hidden.
Now, Su Manlu was cold and arrogant, gazing at her with eyes that were indifferent and sharp, like a blade. Shui Lan’er couldn’t help but feel a chill in her heart.
“I, I just want to apologize for what happened back then...” Shui Lan’er lowered her head and spoke hesitantly, her expression bitter, “Feixi sees me just as a sister... He only treated me well because of his mother’s relationship. We had nothing between us back then.” Yet, she still found herself in love with that man, harboring feelings for him.
But... she was being overly sentimental after all.
Although Yan Feixi redeemed her life and brought her to the Northeast, he only allowed her to return to Nanyi and told her to make the best of it.
Yan Feixi had always treated her with respect and never overstepped boundaries, yet she still held out a sliver of hope. After all, he hadn’t married anyone in the past two years, and she hadn’t seen him being particularly kind to any girl. She believed she still had a chance.
That night at Amuda, she noticed the difference between him and Su Manlu... Shui Lan’er admitted that she was genuinely shocked seeing Su Manlu, but what surprised her even more was Yan Feixi.
She had never seen Yan Feixi treat a woman this way; the way he looked at Su Manlu was both angry and passionate. In her memory, Yan Feixi had always been unrestrained and indifferent to everything. This was the first time she had seen him care so deeply for someone.
That person was still his divorced wife.
At that moment, Shui Lan’er realized she had to let go. This man did not truly belong to her after all.
“I’m sorry. I’ve always owed you this.” Shui Lan’er said apologetically.
In response to her apology, Su Manlu remained indifferent and calmly replied, "You don’t need to apologize to me. The one who should be sorry isn’t you." She had never held a grudge against her. All her resentment and anger were directed solely at one person.
Unexpectedly, Su Manlu said this. Shui Lan’er couldn’t help but look up in surprise.
However, Su Manlu didn’t want to elaborate further and stood up. “As for your relationship with Yan Feixi, I’m not interested. That’s your issue and has nothing to do with me...”
“Manlu!” A slightly panicked voice interrupted her.
Upon hearing his voice, Su Manlu’s expression turned colder, and her hands instinctively clenched within her long sleeves.
Yan Feixi approached Su Manlu quickly, his eyes filled with concern and apprehension.
Of course, he also noticed Shui Lan’er, which made him even more uneasy.
He was angry when he heard Su Manlu say that Shui Lan’er had come to find her back then. But after calming down, Yan Feixi recognized that it was his fault. It wasn’t that he hadn’t noticed Shui Lan’er’s feelings for him; he just hadn’t taken them seriously. At that time, he had only wanted to create chaos and unsettle the Yan family, not paying attention to anything else.
But things were different now. He wanted to heal Su Manlu’s wounds, cherish her, and protect her. Now, in his heart, Su Manlu had become more important than anything else.
“Why did you come out alone?” He asked softly when he reached her side.
His words triggered her sarcasm, “Why? Do I need to report to Young Master Yan about where I’m going?”
“Of course not.” Yan Feixi, unfazed by her taunting tone, arched his eyebrows, and his handsome face broke into a gentle smile. “I just worry if you go out alone.”
Su Manlu looked at him coldly. Lately, he had been so nice to her. No matter how much she ridiculed or glared at him, he seemed oblivious. He continued to linger around her shamelessly, with an unending smile on his face. This only made Su Manlu more annoyed, as she secretly resented his persistence.
